Disaster Recovery Specialist

Joseph Moore is a Disaster Recovery Specialist with United Way of Southwest Virginia. With professional experience in emergency management at the state level, Joseph has supported recovery efforts across multiple jurisdictions and coordinated FEMA Public Assistance projects. His work has included leading recovery operations following major incidents in Southwest Virginia.

Joseph has completed both FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute Basic Academy and the Advanced Professional Series, reflecting his commitment to ongoing professional development and emergency management excellence. He is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration (MBA), focusing on leadership and strategic operations to better support long-term community resilience.

Joseph is passionate about serving the people of Southwest Virginia, a region he has grown deeply committed to. He is driven by the belief that effective disaster recovery is not only about rebuilding infrastructure but also strengthening the social and economic foundations of local communities. Joseph's downtime is spent hiking across Southwest Virginia with his wife, Ally, and their dog, Milo.
